Biography
Kim Cabán, born and raised in NYC, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses her passion for creating. Inspired by her Caribbean roots she explores raw textures, bold colors, and natural elements in her artwork and everyday lifestyle. In 2020 she created SUNROOM SALA, an art studio encompassing her creative passions for art + design and culinary experiences. Producing authentic artworks, prints, and murals. Sparking innovative ideas and exploring mixed mediums. Her journey with art began in production and event planning over 10 years ago while curating exhibitions at Reed Space for small brands and Fortune 500 companies alike. In recent years they’ve worked at Reed Art Department as Production Manager. With her creative influence, she has been successful in building, and managing product life cycles + brand collaborations.
Artist Statement
I paint because it is the way of expressing myself, where I can say what I want freely, I understand that it is a path without judgments where I can walk step by step. Slow, fast or The premise behind my recent works presented was to represent my culture, honor my heritage and ancestors. By exploring new elements through art, I found joy in recreating nostalgic items that represent my past, present and future.
