Biography
Luis Leon was born on August 16, 1976 in the province of San Juan de la Maguana, DR. Self-taught artist who appeared at an early age in his life, began his first studies at the municipal school of fine arts in San Juan de la Maguana. Then I went to study drawing and technique of color in the school teacher Valenzuela, I also study color theory at the school ends art school with the colorist Silvio Reyes and at the School of Fine Arts.
Artist Statement
I paint because it is the way of expressing myself, where I can say what I want freely, I understand that it is a path without judgments where I can walk step by step. Slow, fast or medium, how I want! and also I feel safe. I have a way of thinking and that is that “things must be how they are”, so, that leads me to a social criticism, because I feel that there are things that are not right! , I refute them through my work, for the responsibility I feel I have as a social entity. If we all remain silent before the things we see and know; although they can be very bad or very good. I believe that there must be a middle ground in everything that has to do with the human being. I am currently working on a series called Conceptual Revolution, which impacts psychologically, because it is a denunciation, I see that in my country laws are not respected and I worry about the future of my children. I intend to make a social and emotional impact with this new project. I hope to continue projecting and take my work to Europe.
